World-famous retailer Harrods recently invested in a SharePoint 2010 Intranet and Extranet, deployed by ICS Solutions. The new solution improves collaboration and information sharing among their blended workforce and will save £75,000 on printing and distribution of information.
Harrods has over 8,000 full-time and part-time employees and external associates working on their London-based store. The SharePoint 2010 solution helps to increase employee engagement, by surfacing and centralising all news and information.
The Intranet also allows Harrods to be compliant with UK legislation, which states that all staff should have access to the same benefits and information.
The project, that lasted four months, has been completed in two levels, with a corporate Intranet offering internal access and a secure Extranet, which mirrors the Intranet, providing read-only access.
Harrods plans to continue to drive investment in the Intranet, further developing some of the features to its specific needs.
