ICS Solutions welcome guest speakers to their annual conference
​ICS Solutions held their Annual Conference on 9th September in their Basingstoke offices, with the purpose of updating all employees on projects and results for each department. This year's event was split by technology and received external speakers for the first time, with three executives from Microsoft, one from Computacenter and one from Handover HR, the new outsourced HR company working with ICS Solutions. 
 
The conference's purpose is to inform ICS Solutions employees about current activities and plans for developing each area of the business. The external speakers from Microsoft contributed with their views on Azure, Microsoft and Office 365, while David Matthews, from Computacenter, shared their plans for this financial year and their partnership with ICS Solutions.

Simon Karn (Azure) – Microsoft
 
  • 200 people currently working on Azure at Microsoft
  • Azure data market place launching in the UK in November
  • Big opportunity for Azure with start ups
  • Focus this year  on looking for 200 partners globally with active Azure practices
 
Nick Caw (Office 365) – Microsoft 
  • Microsoft big bets - future of productivity - UC, BI, ECM, Collaboration, Enterprise  Search
  • The partnership with Computacenter places ICS Solutions in a very unique space for Office 365 services
  • ICS Solutions are one of the top partners for Office 365, standing out from the crowd of  34,000 UK partners.
  • Within 8 weeks from the launch of Office 365, Microsoft obtained the same number on this new platform as they did for the whole of BPOS
  • Microsoft's FY12 priorities for the Cloud are to increase the number of Cloud Accelerate partnerships and progress on other technologies, such as on Windows Intune and CRM Online
  • Mark Johnston (SharePoint) – Microsoft
  • Microsoft will continue to pursue broad adoption in FY12, delivering advanced workloads that broaden adoption, drive compliance, and reduce the cost of maintaining multiple systems
  • SharePoint functionalities are very broad and the market is very competitive – SharePoint is in the forefront of the wider platforms but is challenged by niche providers/ solutions.
  • Extranet is going to overshadow internet opportunities - 80% to 20%
  • SharePoint for Internet Sites (FIS) will be the focus area for next version of SharePoint
  • Marketplace noise will come from Office 365 – opportunity for SharePoint Online
