ICS Solutions hosted today a special Windows Azure seminar, with guest speakers from Microsoft UK. The event in Basingstoke attracted a high number of attendees, and was very well perceived by them.
Simon Karn, from the Windows Azure Platform team at Microsoft UK, co-presented the seminar with Mark Hirst, Windows Azure Practice Lead at ICS Solutions.
Simon started the session, presenting the concept of Cloud Computing and how it is changing the way we do IT and also explaining how Microsoft built their unbeatable infrastructure.
Mark Hirst presented the Windows Azure technology to the public, exploring scenarios when the technology can help saving costs and even push companies to write codes in a more effective way.
Eric Nelson, ISV Architect at Microsoft, also supported the discussion by answering technical questions from delegates and explaining how Microsoft operates their Public Cloud platform. He also explained how ICS Solutions' Assessment and Migration package can help companies identify which applications they already have can run on Windows Azure, making the migration process easier.
The three-hour session was dynamic and interactive, with delegates contributing by suggesting their own scenarios and questioning how they would effectively work on Windows Azure.
David Denton, Executive Assistant for the Director of Technology, at the Houses of Parliament UK, said about the session: "Nice to understand how ICS fits into your journey to Azure. Good info on Azure and the benefits it can provide. Interesting positive addition of technology demo to bring it together".
